Cumbres Pass Station

The Old Cumbres Pass Station House

At 10,015 Feet, This Is The Highest Point On The Train Ride

This depot was built in 1882 and originally served as the section foreman's house.  It was used by section crews until the mid-1960s.

The construction of the railroad reached Cumbres in 1880, building the line starting on the Antonito side.

Earlier structures built at Cumbres included the original depot, a covered turntable, and housing for the section crews.  A full time cook was employed here to prepare meals for the workers.
