Lava Desert Outside of Antonito |
| For 15 miles out of Antonito, the train passes through huge lava fields consisting of Cisneros Basalt and the Los Pinos Formation. These rocks date back from 4.5 to 25 million years ago and were the result of massive volcanic eruptions in the eastern San Juan Mountains. | |
