Remote Valley below Toltec Mesa

A Remote New Mexico Valley As Seen From Above Toltec Mesa

This valley can be seen from the train just east of Osier, Colorado.  Access to the area by dirt road is possible only during the summer months because of the heavy snowcover that blankets the valley during the winter months.

Osier (elevation 9,637 feet) is the mid-point of the Antonito to Chama run.  The train stops at this station for passengers to enjoy a hot lunch before continuing their journey.  Travelers taking the 'short' trip will return to their origin by train from Osier, while those on the 'long' trip will change trains and continue to their destination.
